![]() Beato being a female Id hints toward Yasu identifying herself as female. One last note: Kanon being both male and the Super Ego would suggest Yasu being born male, hence she feels it would be morally right for her to be male. This conflict represents the essence of the Ego: Bakancing the Super Ego and the Id. Shannon- the Ego: In EP2 we see Shannon’s conflict: Either break the mirror in the shrine and allow Beatrice to be free, that is, letting her Id go wild, or keep the status quo, the option aspired by Kanon. She is also the personality that is given Yasu’s maddening love for Battler, and as an extantion, Yasu’s drive to kill. Beatrice- the Id: Beato is an endless witch- she can have whatever she desires on the spot (See young Beato with Virgilia scene, EP3).Also, Beato as a persona wasn’t particularly active until 1986, when Battler returns. He will not develope his romantic relationship with Jessica because of his status as servent. Kanon- the Super Ego: Kanon is the one with the ideals of working hard, not stepping out of bounds (as ‘furniture’) and loyalty.I believe Yasu’s main three personas are representations of her Ego, Super Ego and Id: The Super Ego is basically the “Ideal” and morals of the person, the Id contains the inner immidiate desires of the person, while the Ego is the one keeping the balance between the two. Yasu has no alibi, but this creates no contradiction because Kanon was never killed either. If Kanon stops appearing as a character because Shannon stops pretending to be him, then Kanon is dead. Is one of his relatives desperate enough to kill for the family fortune? Or is this the work of the Golden Witch?Įach year, the Ushiromiya family gathers at the secluded mansion of its patriarch, the elderly Kinzo. In Freud’s psychology, there are three entities that constitute the mind: Ego, Super- ego, and Id. She may be human, but Yasu is not part of the game shes the author. But when the eighteen family members and servants are trapped on the island by the raging typhoon, the grisly events that follow leave Battler shaken to his core. Battler doesn't hold much stock in dark omens, nor does he believe the tales of the witch rumored to have given his grandfather a fortune in gold.and who walks the halls of the mansion to this day. It has been six years since Battler joined his cousins at the annual event, but their happy reunion is overshadowed by worsening weather and an eerie premonition from his youngest cousin-not to mention their parents' feud over the inheritance. Shannon, Kanon and Beatrice are all roles she plays, and they also double as representations of different sides of her inner conflicts during fantasy scenes.
